A puzzle and turn-based-battle game created for the Weekly Game Jam - Week 45 ~ Still in development
We had a lot of fun working on this game! It was my first time working on Phaser 3 and my first time using Tiled, but I guess that's what game jams are for, testing out cool ideas and new technology.

Please take a look before you continue reading: https://garlov.itch.io/dungeon-dragons

I've done multiple projects in Phaser 2, and even though that helped a lot on some parts of the new Phaser 3 engine, other parts had me really fumbling blindly in the dark. I spent more than a few hours trying to dig through the lacking documentation, and more or less ended up reading the source code instead. I'm just happy Phaser 3 is an opensource engine, or else we wouldn't have come close to the game we had when we delivered.

We had a really bad start on this game jam as well. We barely fleshed out the gameplay on Friday 18th of May, when the theme released, and both of us were more or less busy the whole weekend + Monday. Which meant that we only had a few evenings left to finish the game. This didn't stop us though, we finally got some good headway going on Tuesday and Wednesday. When Thursday came around, I took some time of work to try to finish the turn based battle. This was more or less done when Christian got of work, and "all" we had to do was to fix a mountain of bugs. Which we obviously didn't manage to do.

We managed to deliver something descent, even though there is a lot more I'd like to do in this game.

Sound effects
Battle Transition
Better turn indications in battle
Attack animations (They are even in the game, just not used)
More puzzle elements like levers, hidden doorways etc
More combat options like spells and items
Better background music, and combat music

Hopefully I'll get the time to revisit this game in the future. It was really fun to work on this, just have to finish some of my other projects first.
